►Tours are available for private groups any time in the day or evening, any day of the week, year-round, in English or in French (subject to availability of guides). Specific routes and tour duration times are flexible.

►start locations are easily accessible by bus or on foot

►larger sized groups may be accommodated with staggered departure times

►conducted at a comfortable pace so that people of all levels of fitness may participate

The Haunted Walk has tours that are appropriate for groups of all kinds! It makes an excellent party, get-together or learning environment for school groups.  We have hosted a wide range of groups in the past, literally everything from girl guides to seniors groups; from elementary school students to business conferences, and all have found the Haunted Walk an ideal way to see the city in an entirely different light! Choose which tour is most appropriate for your group and see below for specific rates.

Rates for 2008 - Private Tour Groups

To book a private tour, you must pay for a minimum of 20 participants.

For any private tour, 1 organizer/supervisor may attend free of charge for every 10 paying participants.

Company guides/group leaders and/or bus drivers accompanying groups also attend free of charge.

Payment Terms - Private Tours

24 hrs. in advance:

-written notice required for a cancellation
-written notice required for a reduction in the # of participants or the group is responsible for payment in full as per the booking contract
-advance written notice is required for any additional participants to join the tour. The Haunted Walk may not be able to accommodate additional participants with short notice.
-payment in full must be received by Haunted Walks Inc.

The Original Haunted Walk of Ottawa

Duration: 60-90 mins
This tour departs from our ticket booth at the corner of Sparks Street and Elgin Street.

This lantern-lit evening walking tour of Ottawa ghost stories and darker history features the haunting of the Bytown Museum, the Fairmont Château Laurier, Friday’s Roast Beef House and more! Explore the hidden side of the Nation’s Capital. A tried and true favourite for all ages. This tour is wheelchair accessible with assistance.

Ghosts and the Gallows

Duration: 60-90 mins
This tour departs from our ticket booth at the corner of Sparks Street and Elgin Street.

Visit death row and the gallows inside the Old Carleton County Jail and other haunted locations while your tour guide recounts more of Ottawa’s supernatural encounters. Was the wrong man hanged for the murder of D’Arcy McGee? Does he haunt the jail today? This tour includes stairs and is not wheelchair accessible. May be frightening for young children. A portion of the proceeds assists in the preservation of the HI-Ottawa Jail Hostel.

Crime & Punishment Jail Tours 

Guided Tours at the old Carleton County Jail (now the HI – Ottawa Jail Hostel)

Duration: approx. 60 mins.
This tour departs from the lobby of the HI Ottawa Jail Hostel at 75 Nicholas Street.

Tour the Old Carleton County Jail and learn about why Ottawa was once considered ‘the most dangerous town in North America’. Learn about early prison life, as you see the jail cells, death row and the last working gallows in Canada. This tour includes stairs and is not wheelchair accessible. Commentary presented by experienced tour guides from The Haunted Walk of Ottawa in partnership with Hostelling International. A portion of the proceeds assists in the preservation of the HI-Ottawa Jail Hostel.

The Naughty Ottawa Pub Walk

Duration: 2 hours
This tour departs from our ticket office at 73 Clarence Street in the Byward Market.

This tour exposes Ottawa’s risqué history: from the misbehaving citizens of Lowertown, to political scandal, affairs of the heart, and the outrageous choice of Ottawa as capital. Quench your thirst en route, with stops at local pubs (drinks not included). This tour is not appropriate for children.

The Original Haunted Walk of Kingston

This tour departs from the front of the Prince George Hotel at 200 Ontario Street.

Haunting locals and newcomers alike, this walking tour by lantern-light of the ghosts and darker history of Kingston’s old Sydenham Ward is a tried and true favourite for all ages. Featuring the hangings at the old courthouse, haunted hotels and hidden burial grounds. This tour is wheelchair accessible with assistance.

Ghosts of the Fort 

Haunted Tours of Fort Henry National Historic Site

Duration: 60-90 mins
This tour departs from the front gate of Fort Henry National Historic Site.

The darker history of Fort Henry National Historic Site reveals itself on this extremely popular tour. With its tragic history, it is no surprise that the ghosts at Fort Henry want to make themselves known, sometimes even while the tour is in progress. This tour contains stairs and is not wheelchair accessible.

The Great Kingston Pub Walk

Duration: 2 hours
This tour departs from our ticket booth in front of the Prince George Hotel at 200 Ontario Street (next to City Hall)

This humorous guided tour of the early days of Kingston features many stories and surprises from the history of the Limestone City, with a good dose of fun and two pub stops along the way (drinks not included in the ticket price).  This tour is not appropriate for children and is wheelchair accessible with assistance.
